2013 COURSE MAP

Swim Course
The swim course starts on the rocky shore of Lake Nockamixon near the marina. The water temperatures range from 75-80 degrees. For the Olympic Plus and the Half Distance, we will have a 0.6m triangular course that you will circle clockwise. You will keep the buoys on your right. The Half will circle the course twice. The first leg is 200m and then participants will have two legs of 400m to follow for a total of 1K. Use caution when you exit the water up the steep bank and to the transition area. You will find foot-washing bins prior to the TA entrance. We will wave start approximately 100 people per wave. You will receive your wave assignments at the time of check-in.
Lake Nockamixon is not open to public swimming. The only time you can swim is during the event.

Bike Course
Fire Police will be present at all intersections. The bike course starts with a difficult 0.6-mile climb out of the park onto Rt. 563; you will turn right and begin the loop around the park. Each loop is 18.5 miles around with rolling terrain. You will turn right onto Rt. 412, then merge with Rt. 611. You will turn right onto South Park Rd. The first half of South Park Road has a large shoulder, which disappears when you reach Kellers Church Road. You will need to ride in the road (turns into Ridge Rd) and stay to the right. Continue to right turn on Rt. 313 and finally a right back onto Rt. 563. You will be sharing the shoulder of the road with the run course for one mile, you will be separated by cones, please remain to the left of the cones. The bike aid station is located at Deerwood Rd at the end of this line of cones. The Half event will have three laps. The Olympic Plus event will feature a long bike section of two laps. After your laps you will turn right back into the park and back to the marina. Use caution descending back into the park.

Bike Aid Station
The Bike Aid station is located on the corner of Deerwood Rd, close to the end of each lap near the park entrance. There is a drop zone just prior and immediately after the Aid Station. This is the only area where you are permitted to discard your used water bottles. You may pick up a new bottle of orange Gatorade or plain water at this location. Please yell out your preference to the aid station volunteers, then thank them for giving up their day for you.

Bike Support Provided By:

Turn left on 563 and run inside the cones to remain away from the bikers. The next 1 mile has a downhill, then an uphill before it flattens out. You will turn left on Old Bethlehem Rd. and run down to the turnaround. The Olympic Plus turnaround is at 3.1m, the Half turnaround is at 3.275m. You will return is on the same course. Half participants will run this out & back course twice turning around the "Magic Tree near the finish line before starting your second loop. Each mile of the run course will be marked with a mileage sign. (Half = White signs, Oly Plus = Yellow)
