A gorgeous and challenging course: smooth lake, pumping bike course, rugged run. True Olympic distance: 1500m swim, 24.6 mile bike, 10K run. The first at Patagonia Lake, Tucson areas favorite Open Water training ground. Just two weeks before the sold out IMAZ. It's lovely weather for racing in Arizona.

Course DescriptionsThe Landscape of this venue makes each course an exhilarating, heart pumping test of your abilities as a triathlete. Route maps are provided at www.PatagoniaTri.com
(subject to change based on permits) and you are encouraged to practice on the courses.
Swim Course: Water temperatures very from year to year from the mid 60 degree range to the upper 70 degree range. For this event, Park Managers have asked that Wetsuits be mandatory unless park officials record water temperatures over 75 degrees. USAT wetsuit rules do apply.Swim: 1500 M Starting at the Boat Dock, wrapping the East end of the lake, ending at Patagonia Lake Beach area- imported sand with a few weathered stones.
Open Water Swim: A 1500 M Open Water Swim wave will take place after the triathletes have cleared the course, at approximately 9:30 am, depending on the number of participants registered for each event and division.Relay Option Two or Three person relay may be Co-ed. Finishers Medals and shirts will be provided for up to three team members. There are no age group or gender divisions for Relay Awards.Transition Area: Beach Parking lot will be used for transition and finish. No assigned bike racks: first come first serve. Transition area opens at 7:30 am. Athletes only in transition, please. Swim In gate is at North/East edge, Bike In/Out, East side, Run Out West side. Finish South of the Transition area.
Rigorous Bike: The bike is particularly steep and winding at points: please practice climbing and braking techniques. Beginners and Amateurs are encouraged to pre-ride the course. Bike: Out the Marina/West exitroad, one lane will be closed to traffic for our use during the race- watch for the pilot car in the opposite lane. Steep and winding lake road connects to Hwy 82. Use paved shoulders on 82, going Northeast to the Town of Patagonia. Turn at Patagonia High School and return to the park. Bike finishes going past the guard shack to the beach parking lot transition area.-keep Right. Water Stop with Hammer Gel, Hammer Heed and water at Patagonia High School turning point, about mile 12.2. Arrowhead flip Top water bottle pick up at mile 6/18 at the turn from Patagonia Lake Road onto the 82.
Mixed Cross Country Run: The Run Course heads through camp ground, over the bridge, out the West exit to the Sonoita Creek Trailhead- You must repeat designated section of the trail head in order to have a true 10K run. Repeat the trailhead loop and return to transition via the West Marina Access road.Road to finish is shared with bikes: Bike stay Right, Runners go Left. Following markings and volunteer instructions. The trail head access road is wide, hard packed dirt with small patches of rock, sand, and gravel. Running shoes or trial runners are recommended. Water Stop at mile 1.5/4.5 (loop
point) and mile 3. Hammer Gel, Hammer Heed, and Water at stop.
