The Rocketman Triathlon is a USAT Sanctioned Olympic Distance Triathlon put on by the Team Rocket Tri-Club. 2010 marks the 17th year for the Rocketman Triathlon in memory of John Masterson.
The event takes place at 7:30 am on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at the Col. Hudson Recreation Area on beautiful Redstone Arsenal. This race benefits the USMCR Toys for Tots Program.
SWIM 1.5 kilometers The swim takes place in the Tennessee River. Swimmers will enter the water in a time trial format one at a time with a 3-5 second interval.
Swimmers will be seeded based upon the estimated swim time you provided during registration (yes, you can edit your swim time before the race by clicking the "Edit Registration" link on the top of this page).
BIKE 4o kilometers The bike course is an out and back on paved asphalt. The course has a couple of rolling hills, but is primarily flat and fast. There is no water on the bike course. It is recommended that you carry at least one bottle on the bicycle. Please check your bike to ensure that all bar ends are capped.
RUN 10 kilometers The run course takes place on a combination of asphalt roads, gravel roads and smooth gravel trail. The run will be challenging due to heat and several gradual hills.
Located on Tennessee River on Redstone Arsenal at Col Hudson Recreation Area adjacent to Huntsville AL
(Huntsville is in northern Alabama 100 miles north of Birmingham)
ACCESS TO REDSTONE ARSENAL:
Redstone Arsenal is a closed military installation. Vehicles must have a DOD sticker/decal or obtain a one-day pass at Gate 9 upon entry on race day morning. Vehicles will be inspected upon entry.
