Crescent Beach Triathlon is a race-style Olympic distance triathlon event open to everyone without restriction as either a personal individual event (for those being true triathletes doing all three legs back-to-back) or as a team event (for those that want to split up the swim bike run with friends).

 1.5 km Swim 40 km Bike 10 km Run.
Start Time: 08:40AM Sunday, August 11, 2013, beginning from the swimming area at Crescent Beach at the end of Sullivan St.

Free/ No Fee for participation, just show up ready to swim bike run.
This is an organized open meet-up (grassroots-community open guerrilla triathlon race-style workout DIY format) to do the Crescent Beach Triathlon -- no charge, no donation, no nothing, just show up with your A-game on -- that's all we ask. If you want to be part of something truly meaningful you need to place August 11th, 2013 on your calendar right now.

Course Information:

see www.crescentbeachtriathlon.org for details. However;

Swim 1.5km: The swim course starts in the swimming area and goes straight out 750metres in a straight line towards the pier, under the pier, past the pier, around a turn-around mark (the first channel marker), and back to the swim area.

Bike 40km; The bike course consists of two legs (legs "A" & "B"); at the 2 km mark on Crescent Road is the junction point for A & B. The legs are done in the following order A - B - A:
  Do the "A" leg first (out to White Rock and then back the same way) = ~13.5 km.
  then do the "B' leg (up Crescent Road up to the Esso station round-about and then back the same way) = ~8 km.
  then do the "A" again = 13.5 km.
  then head back to the transition area = 2 km
There are NO stop-light intersections to go through and there is little reason/need to stop (only a few stop signs which you can handle easily on your own). Note in the south-west corner of the bike map; take any street you want to take to get from the base of 16th Ave. to 128 Street (and the same applies heading back), but be warned 14 Ave. does go through all the way so I would not take that one.
Some people have volunteered to chalk/flour the bike course with arrows before the event.

Run 10km: We kept the normal Crescent Beach course close to intact but added back in a jaunt up Sandy Trail and an uncomplicated run through parts of Crescent Heights/Ocean Park (out and back the same way) then back down Sandy Trail. The run works out to 10 km and is only one loop of the course now. Confirmed Water Station: Just past the top of sandy trail (where Crescent Drive turns into Seacrest Drive) -- some kind neighbours have advised they will man a water station there. There may be others (as this is "grassroots") but at least this one is confirmed.
