We recognize that there are athletes (or not) at every level and our primary goal is to offer something for everyone.  The course is approximately 5K, to be looped twice by some.  This is an endurance race, not a sanctioned 5 or 10K event.  Besides, what is the point of trying to best your 5 or 10K record when you are carrying a brick on your back and wandering through boot camp stations.  So here are your event categories:

  • Brick 26 Competitive Division

  • 5K / 10K Bootcamper

  • 5K Straight Run

  • 1 Mile Honor Walk

BRICK 26 COMPETITIVE DIVISION
Each participant in this wave will be carrying 5 bricks (26lbs) in a backpack throughout an approximately 10K course.  Along the way, you will be challenged by 4 bootcamps, each operated by military personnel.  Each bootcamp will have 2 challenges that could include, but will not be limited to:  pushups, bucket curls, crawling 100yds under barbed wire, shuttle sprints, etc... most with your backpack on.  We will be using chip technology, and will have a start and finish time for the top 3 competitors as well as the entire Competitve Wave so that records can be set to be broken in future years.  Do you have what it takes to become the Brick 26 champion?  [Register Now]

*Participants are expected to come with a backpack that can handle 5 bricks, wrapped in a towel (to prevent tearing) duct taped (to keep load in one place) - total weight approx. 26lbs.

5K / 10K BOOTCAMPER DIVISION

Participants in this category will complete the same course as the competitive wave, but may carry only 1 brick in their backpack. This is still a rigorous event that promises to leave you exhausted, yet accomplished-- all for a great cause. As a botcamper participant, it is you vs yourself or your friends to see how far you can get.  Bootcamper division is not timed and brick carrying is optional. 5K STRAIGHT RUN

The 5K Straight run takes participants along the same race course as the other divisions without the bricks or the boot camps.  This unique, Eisenhower Park course, designed exclusively for the Brick 26 Challenge, features some hills and some turns and is sure to challenge anyone looking to compete in a challenging 5K race.  The course will be USATF sanctioned and electronically timed. HONOR WALK
The honor walk takes each particpant on a one-mile, peaceful journey in celebration of those who serve.  You can carry the brick in your hand, put it in a knapsak/backpack.  Strollers are welcome to be part of our honor walk. [Register Now]

Other Info:

Pushups
An official push-up rep requires male participants to lay in traditional push-up position (feet touching ground).  Women have option to do pushups in modified position (knees on ground).  Participants must lower body so chest comes in contact with the sponge indicator placed on ground and then raise themselves to full elbow lockout position.  Each participant must perform 26 push-ups.

Sand Bucket Squats
Participants will perform 26 squats while holding 26lb buckets in each hand.  Participants will perform a deep knee bend until buckets make contact with ground and repeat.

Shuttle Sprints

Participants begin at starting location and will run back and forth over 5 different distances ranging from 5 yards to 26 yards.  After the last sprint, participants will exit the shuttle lane and proceed to the next obstacle.  Stop locations for each distance will be marked on the ground.  Participants must bend and touch the ground at each stop location before changing direction.

Gravitys Revenge Side-To-Side Jumps

Participants will jump side-to-side over ropes over a distance of 26 yards.  Each jump requires both participants feet to cross the rope at the same time.

Military Crawl

Participants must crawl 26 yards under a rope grid while dragging their brick-filled backpack along with them.  Upon exiting the Military obstacle, participants will proceed to the next obstacle.

Brick 26 Drum Roll

Participants must roll a 55-gallon, water-filled barrel a distance of 13 yards, drag it around a bend and roll it back 13 yards.  Participants will then run to the far end of the obstacle and exit.

Ring of Honor Rope Run

Participants must run 10 yards through a rope grid.  Each foot must land in its own box on the grid as participant moves from one end to the other.
