ROCK VALLEYS PREMIER TRIATHLON, THE ROCKATHLON, WILL BE HELD ON AUGUST 3, 2013. THE EVENT WILL START AND FINISH AT RIVERS BEND CAMPGROUND. TEAMS AND INDIVIDUALS ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE.
The swim portion of the event will take place in the campground. It will be a 300 yard swim in the Swimming Hole.
For the bike portion of the event, participants will ride from the campground to the black top K30 and travel south. At K52, bikers will turn east towards Doon, and ride all the way to K42. Participants will turn South onto K42 and head back towards Highway 18.
They will turn west onto the cement road that becomes 17th street. Once the bikers get to town, they will make a series of turns to stay as far to the North as possible. Theyll go through the school parking lot and make a few more turns to stay out of traffic. When they reach main street, participants will head North out of town to the campground road and head back to the transition road.
The run will start in the campground and follow the citys scenic trails. The path will be marked by both signs and volunteers, and it will be 5 kilometers long, finishing in the campground.
AWARDS/MEDALS WILL BE HANDED OUT FOR THE FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD PLACE INDIVIDUALS FOR EACH AGE BRACKET, GENDER, AND OVER-ALL RESULTS. MEDALS WILL ALSO BE AWARDED TO THE FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD PLACE RELAY PARTICI-PANTS. MEDALS WILL BE GIVEN OUT SEPARATELY TO MENS, WOMENS AND COED TEAMS. THE AWARDS CEREMONY WILL TAKE PLACE AFTER THE FINAL PARTICIPANT HAS CROSSED THE FINISH LINE.
