2012 Captain Thurmond's Challenge:

  • The Captain Thurmond's Challenge Triathlon consists of 28.5 miles of the most extreme whitewater, mountain biking and running in the state and the East Coast.
  • The triathlon can be done as a relay team, solo, or raft team.

    • Course Information:


  • Challenging and Fun- run, bike and paddle through the beautiful New River Gorge National Park.
  • Course is demanding, off road with a class III-IV whitewater paddle section.
  • Great trails though the woods to finish line in Downtown square.

    • Directions:


  • Look for Oak HIll& Fayetteville WV,on Rt. 19 at the New River Gorge Bridge.
