Cycling : Cycle 55, 26, 21 or 10 Miles |
The Lyme Land Conservation Trust, a non-profit organization in Lyme CT, is holding the first annual Tour de Lyme charity cycling event. It will showcase what 45+ years of land conservation has helped create - lightly travelled roads winding up and down and through pastoral countryside - long appreciated by local riders.
Four road rides ranging from 10 to 55 miles with different levels of riding challenge ensures there is a ride for all skill levels. In addition there are mountain bike rides offered as well one for experts.
Proceeds will go to help the Lyme Land Trust protect conservation land and acquire more.Rides leave at different times so all return in time for a picnic lunch.
Come, ride and join us for great lunch after the ride. Details and registration on our website. http://www.tourdelyme.org/
The Challenge: A challenging ~50 mile ride for strong riders, this ride replicates The Classic (see #2) but adds on another 25 miles north of Lyme.
The Classic: A 25 mile figure eight through some of Lymes most beautiful countryside. Featuring more hills than the Valley Ride (see below), it acquaints riders with the full range of Lymes landscapes.
The Valley Ride: A 20 mile ride in the valleys of the Eight Mile River and its tributaries. This is a ride through (mostly) gentle terrain, much of which wends its way along beautiful rivers and streams.
The Family Ride: A 10 mile ride over beautiful and gentle country roads. Fun for all ages with a route that could include a quick side trip to Salem Valley Ice Cream for some extra incentive.
