Love triathlons, but hate the swim? Well, tri this race. Weve taken everybodys least favorite part of the race, and added a new challenge: kayaking. Athletes now kayak out to the Route 123 bridge and back instead of swimming. If you want to compete with a friend, try using a canoe.
REGISTER for the race at http://bishopsevents.com/05-05-13-tri-it-or-du-it-at-the-occoquan/
There will be race day registration. Participants will need to arrive at 6:15 to get registered for the event. T-shirts sizes can NOT be guaranteed for race day registers. CASH OR CHECK ONLY (checks made out to Bishops Events, LLC).
Pre-race meetings will begin around 7:45 near the kayak rental dock. Packet Pickup will be at Road Runner Sports on Saturday, May 4th, from 2-6pm. Road Runner Sports is located at 1120 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046. Athletes are expected to pick up their packet at Road Runner Sports. If you cannot make it, let Travis Bishop know at [email protected]
Parking is at the big gravel parking lot before the Start/Finish Line near the baseball fields in the very back of Occoquan Regional Park.
Chip Timing will be done by Race Packet.
Swim will be replaced by a kayak or a canoe. Athletes can kayak by themselves or canoe with a friend for this segment of the race on the Occoquan River.
Ages 10 through 100 can compete in this event. All athletes 17 & under must purchase a YOUTH ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP ($10) at www.usatriathlon.org (and then register for this race as USAT Annual Members).
Awards will be handed out after the race near the transition area.
*No Refunds after April 1, 2013
