Following the release of a shocking report<\/a> that the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee published yesterday (Mar 05), British Cycling has now made public its official respose<\/a> to the \u2018Combatting Doping in Sport\u2019 report.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

British Cycling CEO Julie Harrison said that the body welcomes the release of the report issued by the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.\u00a0BC CEO then continued thanking chairman Damian Collins. They valued the work\u00a0he has put in conducting this detailed investigation on a delicate but important matter.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThis enquiry had a catalytic effect on our organization. As the sport\u2019s national governing body, we need to be beyond reproach. Mostly when it comes to both our competence and conduct. Since I took on the role of Chief Executive in May last year, we have made significant changes across our organization. Including a governance overhaul; new leadership on the executive team; reviewed areas that were found to be weak and implemented new procedures. All these to ensure that we operate to the highest standards and within world leading guidelines,\u201d Harrison stated.<\/p>\n

Keeping the Committee updated<\/h2>\n

\u201cIn summary, this report is important, thorough and timely. Reviewing the significant breadth of the Committee\u2019s investigations in cycling and beyond is a reminder that all of us across sport\u00a0should work together to fulfil our duty to ensure competition is fair,\u201d Harrison added.<\/p>\n

Harrison said that they will continue to remain highly committed to keeping the Committee updated on their actions. They will continue to share their best practice for the good of cycling.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe British Cycling is a very different organization to the one exposed from the outset of the Committee\u2019s enquiries in 2016 as being in need of a root and branch overhaul. We are intent on building on the momentum that has been generated over the past year to ensure that we are a world class governing body of which we can all be proud. Our riders, members, colleagues and the public deserve nothing less,\u201d new British Cycling CEO Frank Slevin stated.<\/p>\n
