One of team Sky\u2019s best rider, Geraint Thomas, will go back at the Classics ahead of the biggest cycling event; Tour de France.<\/p>\n

Even though he skipped the Classics in 2017, Thomas has decided to take on Paris-Roubaix and Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge in 2018.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Welsh rider has already confirmed the news along with leadership hopes for next year\u2019s Le Tour during an interview last week. Unlike so far, Thomas has decided not to begin the next season in Australia, at the Tour Down Under. He has decided to make a later debut at the Volta ao Algarve\u00a0in the early\u00a0days of spring, 2018.<\/p>\n

“There are a lot of big races in the build up to the Tour, so I\u2019ll start with Algarve, then do Tirenno and then do some training camps. Then I\u2019ll come back and ride Paris-Roubaix, which is exciting. With the cobbled stage in the Tour it\u2019s a good excuse to go back and ride that Monument,” he said during the interview for Cyclingnews.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a race that I love, along with Flanders, but I\u2019ll be in Tenerife then. It won\u2019t be ideal preparation but everyone knows that anything can happen in Roubaix. I just want to be there in the final and help Stannard and Moscon. That\u2019ll be exciting. Then I\u2019ll do Li\u00e8ge, the Tour de Romandie, the Crit\u00e9rium du Dauphin\u00e9 and then Tour. It\u2019s a lot of big races. I\u2019m raring to go.”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
For now, it seems Thomas is trying to focus on the elements he can completely control.<\/p>\n

“I left the meeting, (with Team Sky managers), excited. They said that if I\u2019m looking better and feeling stronger then they will support me,” he added.<\/p>\n
“Time will tell with that, I guess, but I\u2019m excited about the Tour and the races leading up to that.”<\/p>\n
