UCI publishes teams registered for 2018 WorldTour. No more new applicants

Apparently, there won’t be any other changes to the 18-team list registered for the 2018 WorldTour. However, there are a few changes to the list of the second-tier Pro Continental teams.

According to the Union Cycliste Internationale, the final list of the registered teams is now created and it is exactly the same compared to this year’s list. Even though there are no major changes when it comes to the teams, the US-registered Cannondale-Drapac team’s new name is now EF Education First-Drapac presented by Cannondale.

This sudden change of Jonathan Vaughters’ squad name came right after a potential sponsor withdrew a couple of months ago. Soon after that, the Swedish-based Education First the one to step into the breach last month and save the team.

Now, all the teams who have submitted their registration docs will wait for the audit to process and verify all of their materials and decide whether the squads meet the UCI’s requirements based on:

1) Sporting

2) Financial

3) Ethical

4) Administrative….

..aspects. As for the WorldTour teams, they are automatically part of the calendar.
