Tokyo 2020 men’s bike route to cover foot of Mount Fuji

Tokyo 2020: It is almost official, the men’s cycling race at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 will cover nearly a 270 kilometer route that goes through Tokyo suburbs in Chofu and then Lake Yamanaka and finally, passing on the foot of Mount Fuji.

The road cycling event will most probably end at Fuji Speedway located in the Prefecture of Shizuoka.

According to some official sources, the starting line is set to be near Musashino Forest Sport Centre before the competitors have the chance to race along National Route 413 before going around the Yamanaka Lake and Fuji Speedway.

A challenging route

This route is expected to be quite difficult and challenging for athletes since it contains many elevation differences. However, it will certainly be one of the most beautiful courses that can take place with Mount Fuji in the background.

As for the women’s route, it will start and end at the same locations. However, the total distance will only cover 140 kilometers keeping the area around the foothills of Mount Fuji out.

Until now, the part of the route near Fuji Speedway is yet to be officially confirmed. However, many sources indicate this is the final, approved route for the cycling event at the Tokyo 2020.
