The most simple and basic principles of running clothes

running longer

One of the easiest ways for you to categorize your running clothes, especially if you’re new at this sport, is by dividing them into winter and summer outfits. You should always keep in mind to follow a simple but very important rule: choose quality over quantity.

You don’t have to purchase a closet full of “professional” running clothes and gear. Investing in a few, basic outfits that are worth the price is what you should do. Especially if aiming for comfort and high performance.

What to keep in mind for summer running clothes?

We know you have probably dozens of cotton shorts and t-shirts already on your wardrobe. But, believe us when we say; they are not your best option to choose from. Since cotton is very good at soaking sweat,  many runners believe this material will do the trick in keeping them dry while running. But, unfortunately, cotton keeps the sweat on you. They don’t allow it dry making your body to stay constantly wet while on the road.

Also, on the other hand, when using cotton running clothes, it often contains rough seams. When they’re located in the wrong, delicate places may cause significantly disturbing chafe and other irritations.

When choosing running clothes for summertime, try to focus on materials that are well-known for their lightweight features. They do not only have the ability to dry your sweat faster, they do also allow your body to freely move and they don’t chafe.

During your summer running sessions, remember to always put sunscreen on. A bottle with fresh water and a pair of glasses should also be included in your running gear during the hot summer days.

What to know about winter running clothes?

When the weather gets cold, remember the lightweight materials are still your best choice. You don’t want to end up freezing while your sweat has stuck on the cotton material causing you to get sick right? In addition, during the colder days try to put on several layers of clothes from lightweight material.

Know that this is the only way for you to “survive” running in extreme weather conditions without causing a single issue on your body. The first thing to do is to put on a base layer. It should not be too tight to your body and prevent you from moving normally. Try to choose a base clothing layer that contains a zipper. In this case, you can more easily regulate and control your body temperature.

For the second layer, try to choose a looser clothe that can trap the warm air from your body. It will also not allow the outside freezing air to enter. Some of the most recommended choices in these cases are to put on a waterproof jacket. Or a lightweight insulated one from a synthetic material. Choosing a lightweight jacked that also has a hood to protect you from the rain, is a smart purchase as well.

Additional running tips

If you’re planning to run late at night or very early in the morning, you must always secure yourself by becoming visible to the traffic. When choosing your running jackets, try to choose the ones that contain bright and visible colors so you can be seen. You will be able to see that many running clothes companies try to always incorporate reflective seams on their clothes in order to be fully visible.
