Movistar’s Valverde wins Tour of Valencia as Jurgen Roelandts takes final stage

Movistar’s Alejandro Valverde wins Queen Stage at Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana yesterday showcasing an impressive skill-set at the 69th Tour of Valencia.

 

For Spain’s man, Saturday’s fourth stage win means one step closer to the overall victory. This means, his third title of the Valencia Tour.

 

Promising result

 

Yesterday’s Queen Stage started in Starting in Orihuela, near the city of Alicante. It sent the riders to finish the 181km stage in the town of Cocentaina. The race saw the first breakaway to be created only at the end of the stage and it included Reto Hollestein, Cristian Rodriguez, Jon Ander Insausti, Vasil Kiryienka, Reto Hollestein, Juan Camachoand Hector Saez.

 

As for today’s fifth and final stage of the tour, it will start in Paterna and it will see Valverde with a  14-second lead in the general classification over Astana’s  Luis Leon Sanchez and also a 26-second-lead over Astana’s other man Jakob Fuglsang.
