Kittel and Sagan started their altitude training in US for Tour de France

Kittel

It seems the United States won’t serve these two riders only for one purpose. It seems they both had bigger plans to follow after the end of Tour of California.

Following the end of Tour of California, Kittel from the QuickStep Floors team and Peter Sagan from Bora-Hansgrohe, are continuing to stay in the US and training in big altitudes for the upcoming Tour de France.

According to some Belgian newspapers, Sagan will head to Utah and Kittel has already headed to Colorado.

The plans

Kittel will not be alone in this journey. His teammates Fabio Sabatini, Zdenek Stybar and Jack Bauer are following him along with a personal coach to check their progress, and a mechanic. This is a common routine Kittel has before each big competition. He knows he has to stretch himself to the limits in order to aim for the big victory.

He also plans to use the five-day Ster ZML Toer as a final training for the big Tour of France that is planned to happen later in July, this year.

As for Sagan, he’s been out in the States since the beginning of this month. He has spent some time training at the lake Tahoe located in Sierra Nevada next to the border between Nevada and California. Now, he’s planning to go to Utah for at least two weeks. He aims to do the final necessary preparations for Tour de France. However, he plans to compete at the Tour de Suisse next month.

During Tour of California, both Sagan and Kittel won a stage. The overall race was won by George Bennett from LottoNL-Kumbo team. The second place was won by Rafal Majka from Bora-Hansgrohe.
