Quick-Step Floors’ Julian Alaphilippe has just convinced everyone about his great shape by grabbing his second consecutive win of this season’s Tour of Basque Country.
Fans saw Julian Alaphilippe sprint to victory on yesterday’s 166.7km second stage of the race, which begun in Zarautz and ended in Bermeo, sealing an impressive victory after winning the opening stage on Monday as well.
The Frenchman, while in the yellow jersey after the first win which made him the leader of the tour, had to fight for the second stage with Slovenian Primož Roglič ( LottoNL-Jumbo) and Spaniard Mikel Landa (Movistar), among others, by increasing his speed in the final climb of the route.
Alaphilippe is now enjoying an 8-second lead over Roglič, a 39-second lead over Izagirre and a 43-seocnd lead over Landa.
