The Canadian 24-year old triathlete, Joanna Brown, finished in third place at the women’s sprint race organized in Calgary, Italy. The silver-medal winner in the New Plymouth, New Zealand’s World Cup race held in April admitted to feel amazingly good to be back on the podium.
She added: “I came here with a mission of getting on the podium, and I think being able to back up my performance from New Plymouth is a really good indication that training is going well and that I’m headed in the right direction.”
Wow. What a hard, hot, and hilly race. Couldn’t be happier to come away with bronze and to share… https://t.co/Xo7xUxj5Aq

3-year pause
This year, Brown stepped onto the World Cup podium for the first time after a 3-year resting period due to several injuries. By winning a silver medal, she marked her first big appearance competing against many other big names in this sport.
Jolanda Annen from Switzerland was the one to take the first place. She finished the race in only 1:02:04. The silver medal went to Kristen Kasper from the United States in only 1:02:28.
She sure made a decent appearance capturing the triathlon world’s attention after returning to the National Development Team. She has been one of the most talented triathletes in Canada triumphing at different junior and under-23 world championships when she was only a teenager.
“I’m really luck to train with a few ladies that are experienced and successful on the World Cup and WTS circuits. Training with them gives me a lot of confidence in my abilities,” added Brown. She also admitted to be looking forward to slowly improving herself and planning a 4-year training plan.
