Today, the Ukrainian cyclist Andriy Grikvo got disqualified from the race at Dubai Tour 2017 after hitting his fellow Marcel Kittel. He can probably be suspended for 6 months and also, he will be banned from competing in World Championships. He was able to only complete the two first stages of this Tour and now, he is officially banned to further participate and finish the other two.
Cyclist Kittel was the one to call the UCI’s Disciplinary Commission and asked for Andriy Grivko, belonging to the Astana team, to be banned for acting in unacceptable way. Now, it’s up to the UCI’s Disciplinary Commission to determine the Grivko’s actio. They can ban him starting from 1 to 6 months.
Marcel’s response
Cyclist Marcel Kittel gave his opinion and response via twitter. He made his position clear by staying convinced for the disciplinary measures his colleague might get.
I won’t accept an apology for this. That has nothing to do with cycling. What Grivko did is a shame for our beautiful sport. pic.twitter.com/vvMN5LzQN0

After getting a deep cut to his eyebrow Marcel Kittel’s face was fully covered with blood. He couldn’t finish the final sprint of the race. He already won in the first two stages and he is still leading the race.
The Astana team already apologized to Kittel and his team about this horrible act of their team member. They Twitter post was enough: “Astana Proteam apologizes to @marcelkittel and @quickstepteam for improper behavior of its rider @andrei_007 during stage 3 of @dubaitour”.
