BMC Racing rider Richie Porte won the stage four time trial of the Dauphine Tour earlier today. The Australian rider was able to surpass the time trial world champion, Katusha-Alpecin’s ruider Tony Martin by 12 seconds.
Now Porte is one step closer to taking the overall lead which is held by the Lotto Soudal’s rider, Thomas de Gendt.
While waiting to mount the podium, Porte said: “I didn’t expect to either win the stage or take that much time. But I’ve really worked hard on my time trialling this year. It’s been a long time since I’ve done a good time trial, so to do what I did today makes me really happy.”
Lovely day out on my TT bike today. Spent many hours suffering on it so to take the win feels great! #CriteriumDuDauphine ? @TDWsport pic.twitter.com/mGoyPujkYR

Porte clearly feels very responsible and proud of his teammates which he expressed to have put a lot of faith in his abilities. He admitted to have a great team behind him that will support and be there whatever happens. “I can go to the Tour de France in fantastic form and with a great team behind me.”- added Porte.
This year seems to have been a great one for Porte who was able to seal a victory at the general classification at both the Tour de Romandie and Tour Down Under. He is now in a great position to win the Dauphine as well.
Porte expressed to be proud to stand so close to the Tour of France. “I’m just so happy where I’m at, being so close to the Tour. I really hope that with a little bit of luck it can be a good Tour de France for me.”- added Porte.
