I have experience teaching children from as young as 6 months old to teenagers participating in high school and USA swimming. My work with younger children is to focus on feeling more comfortable and confident in the water and then introduce the technique of each stroke. Having fun is the key with younger children and I enjoy being able to make the sport fun for them.
For age group swimmers, there is a stronger focus on technique and stroke improvement for more efficient swimming. I was recently an assistant coach for a Division III Men and Women's college team.
I also work with Masters swimmers and Triathletes (ranging from Sprint, Olympic, Half Ironman, Ironman distances) to improve their technique, efficiency and speed in both the pool and open water. I also work one on one with adults teaching the basics of swimming and focus heavily on increasing confidence in the water. I am confident in my ability to coach swimmers of all ages and levels of expertise.
I've been swimming competitively since the age of 3. As an Age-group swimmer I was ranked as a Top-16 national swimmer and featured in Swimming World magazine as Swimmer of the Month. In college, I competed for a Division I team where I was a 3 time Conference Swimmer of the Meet, 2 time Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Meet, competed at the US Open and attained NCAA B-cut times in the 200 fly and 400 IM. I was also featured in Sport's Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd" segment and named Collegeswimming.com's National Swimmer of the Week.
More recently, I am ranked #1 in the world for FINA Masters Swimming and am a US Masters Swimming National Recordholder. I competed at both short course and long course US Masters Nationals meets in 2013 and was an All-American and ranked #1 in the country for my age-group in multiple events. I was featured in Swimmer magazine this year for my performance at the 2013 Masters National meet. I also have experience competing in various Open Water and Aquathlon (Swim-Run) events.
