Coach Details

Carol Davenport
Santa Fe, NM
I coach all aspects of triathlon, including beginning swimming (adult), cycling, and running. I advise on nutrition for training and racing, and offer personalized training plans for people wanting to participate in triathlon or running events. I also am especially interested in the mental components of training, including overcoming fear of water, fear of racing, and coping with the challenges of moving from a sedentary lifestyle to an athletic one.
I offer personalized training to fit a client's goal--in particular learning proper swimming technique, open water swimming experience, all aspects of road/triathlon cycling, and running, from beginner to advanced. I advise on proper nutrition, gear, including shoe selection, and psychological barriers to performance.
I am a USAT certified level 1 coach. I have been a triathlete for 14 years and a competitive runner for over 30 years. I have qualified and participated in both the Ironman World Championships (Hawaiian Ironman) where I finished 7th in my division and the Ironman 70.3 World Championships (Clearwater) where I finished 3rd in my division. I have also run over 40 marathons, including 13 Boston Marathons. I have won two marathons and was on the cover of Runner's World in 1982.

I have coached triathletes, especially beginners, here in New Mexico for the past 5 years, including offering classes at the Santa Fe Community College, at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center, and through Team in Training, in addition to coaching privately. I have also offered courses in Marathon training and have coached beginners wanting to complete their first 5k, 10k, half marathon, or marathon.
