Join the Alpha Delta Pi chapter at MTSU for a unique triathlon challenge! This is an event unlike any other in the area and is a smaller version of a triathlon. It includes a 300 meter swim, a 10 mile bike ride (new course), and a 5K run (3.14 mile "Pi run" to be exact!). This event is perfect for seasoned athletes who want to train for an upcoming triathlon OR for people who have never done one and want the personal challenge of completing their first triathlon. Beginners encouraged! Chip Timing Our chip timing, course signage and bike racks will be provided by Endurance Sports Management. Fleet Feet's Triathlon Training Program Fleet Feet of Murfreesboro is offering a triathlon training program! For any questions please contact Jennifer Timken at [email protected] .
The swim is 300 meters, which consists of 12 lanes in the MTSU indoor pool. Participants will be marked with their race number on their arm. It will be a snake swim with participants starting at different times. The first participant will enter the water promptly at 8:00 am with the next participant following 5 seconds later and will continue with 5 seconds between each start. Participants need to provide their own swim caps, if desired. Lanes are wide enough to pass.
The bike ride is approximately 10 miles long, with the ride beginning and ending on MTSUs campus. Bike helmets must be worn at all times when on mounting, dismounting, and riding the bike. Participants must provide their own helmet and required. There will be police support in place for two hours. After that participants can finish the race, but must do so at their own risk and realize they no longer have race support.
The run will be 3.14 miles. All of the race will take place on MTSUs campus. Participants will drop off their bikes in the transition area and then proceed to the running course. Runners will head down Blue Raider Drive towards Old Main Circle and complete the campus course. They will end up back where they started at the Rec Center.
