Description: THE RACE: Organizers are dedicated not to disappoint and 2012 proved it with a 100% satisfaction on our post race survey. Whether you are a new runner looking for a challenging 5k or a long distance runner looking for a 10k training challenge to prepare for Dam to Dam or another upcoming long distance race, this race is for you. The Springtime Hill Climb is a race designed by runners just like you. We run on the trails and tracks you do, we ran Dam to Dam, the WAMM, the Warrior, the DSM Marathon and many others right beside you and we designed this race for you. But don’t take my word for it read just a few of last year’s runner testimonials: “Very impressed with everythin. This race was put together like it has been around for years. Great job to everyone!” ”This race was extremely well organized. It didn’t feel like a first-year race at all. The course was pretty and well thought out. The finish line food was generous and tasty. There were five of us there from our local running club and every one of us said we’d do it again. We all mentioned the same things – the medals are beyond anything you’d see in a local 5k/10k, the food was good, the trail portion of the run was prettier than we expected, the course was well-planned and it was USATF as well. A runner must be in charge of this. You’ll enjoy this race!” “It was a fantastic, well-organized race! Thank you.” “I cannot think of anything that would make the race and experience any better. Very well organized from the git go. Packet pick up from the end of the race. You all did a great job. Mile markers on the course were spot on!! That does not happen all of the time. Great job at having plenty of volunteers on the course with signs and water. Again, I thought this was one top notch run that you put on. I will definitely pass on the word to my friends and would love to help out to make this race grow. GREAT JOB!!!!!”
THE DATE of this event is intentionally placed in the first part of the spring to wake you up from winter hibernation and set your feet back on the road where they belong. It is one of the only 10ks in the area in April and we are dedicated to make it the best.
THE LOCATION is strategic. It is our belief that Pleasant Hill has some of the most challenging terrain yet scenic landscape in the area. The 10k starts in Doanes Park, runs through the streets of Pleasant Hill, around a beautiful lake and then through a peaceful wooded trail. But don’t be fooled. Although it is beautiful it is not called the Springtime Hill Climb for nothing. You will definitely earn the shirt on this one.
THE CAUSE has been evaluated carefully. All proceeds go to Dropz of Hope, an organization that is helping children who are unable to help themselves. Face the challenges of this course you can know that you are raising support for foster children in Central Iowa that face their own challenges every day. “Dropz of Hope” www.dropzofhope.blogspot.com, a local independent organization committed to Iowa’s foster families.
