2013 Fireman's Adventure Race & 5k:

  • The Fireman's Adventure Race is a not-for-profit event benefitting the Rockwood Fire Department and the Rockwood Area Merchants Association.  
  • There is also a relay race category, a youth race, and a kid's obstacle course.  
  • Event festivities including live entertainment and vendors the day of the race.  
  • Come out to Rockwood and help support our firefighters!
  • Course Information:


  • The event takes place in the small town of Rockwood, Pennsylvania.
  • The 5K can be run as a standalone event and includes some elevation changes as well as over a mile of wooded trail.
  • The 5k will start and finish at the Rockwood Fire Hall.
  • The kayak leg of the race is on Coxs Creek and the Casselman River.
  • This section is over rocky riverbed and may either include some shallow sections or some mild whitewater (class I-II) depending on river level at the time of the event.
  • If you do not have your own kayak, we have Duckies available for $20 and must be requested in advance of the race.
  • Please contact rockwoodrace@hotmail.com to reserve a ducky.
  • The bike section takes place both on public roads as well as on the Great Allegheny Passage.
  • The trail portion is on crushed limestone path, the roads are paved.
