Florida Challenge Triathlon - (Half Iron Distance):

 

Eligibility (Pertains to the Long Course Only):

Open to individuals 15 years of age or older on race day and two or three person relay teams. The Florida Challenge Triathlon LONG Course is an event designed for experienced triathletes only. The right to accept or reject any entry is reserved. Please be aware that there are several cut-off times during the event that all participants must adhere to. Failure to meet cut-off times will result in disqualification and removal from the course.

More than 100 volunteers from numerous Central Florida civic organizations are committed to make your race a safe and memorable experience.

Average temperature on race day: low 72 - high 89.

Awards:

INDIVIDUALS - Attractive awards presented to the top three overall finishers, top masters finishers, top three finishers in each age group, and the top three Clydesdale finishers (Men 200 lbs., Women 150 lbs.) ages 18-39 and 40 & over.

RELAY TEAMS - Attractive awards presented to the top three teams in each division: male, female, and co-ed.

Amenities:

Participant t-shirt (Registering by April 5th guarantees you a t-shirt), race packet, post race food, swim cap, post-race refreshments, complete race results and other goodies. Official Long Course finishers will receive a special finisher's shirt.

Half Iron:

 

Swim Course: 
A 1.2 mile swim in picturesque Lake Minneola, designated as "Outstanding Waters" by the State of Florida. Projected water temperature: 80-82. Swim cut-off is 1.25 hours after the start of the last swim wave. Participants still swimming after the cut-off time will not be allowed to continue. Course map.

 

Bike Course: 
A 56 mile course consisting of one loop along rural country roads. No major elevation changes, but you will experience a few rolling hills and a steep but short climb up Sugarloaf Mountain. Support/aid stations will be located aproximately 10-15 miles apart. The official bike course cut-off is at 2:00 pm. All participants still on the course at that time will not be allowed to continue and will be removed from the course. Course map.

Run Course: 
2 lap 10k loop on the South Lake Trail. Course map. 

 

Sprint Course:

 

Swim Course: A 440 yard swim in picturesque Lake Minneola, designated as "Outstanding Waters" by the State of Florida. Projected water temperature: 78.

 

Bike Course: A 8 mile course consisting of one loop around lake Minneola with no major elevation changes.

Run Course: A 3 mile out and back run on the South Lake Trail.

Waterfront Park, Clermont, Florida. Clermont is centrally located just 22 miles west of Orlando at the junction of US 27 and SR 50. Major Orlando tourist attractions are only 30 minutes away and the ocean beaches are just an hour away. Orlando International Airport is 40 minutes southeast of Clermont.
