2012 Possum Town Triathlon:

The 1st annual Possum Town Triathlon will be held near the Lock and Dam in Columbus, MS.

The transition area and swim will be at the boat ramp area.

Course Information:

600 yard swim, 17 mile bike, and 5k run

Swim:

The 600 yard swim will start in a time trial fashion with each athlete entering the water every 3-5 seconds, and each athlete will start in the order of registration.

The swim will be 200 yards out, 200 yards across, the 200 yards back to the shore.

There will be safety personnel in the water.

After exiting the water, each athlete will enter the transition area, which will serve as the bike and run transition.

Bike:

The 17 mile bike is mostly flat and very fast.

Get down into your aero bars and get ready for one of your fastest bike splits ever.

There will be volunteers and police on the bike course at all of the turns.

Each athlete will bike out and back to the same transition area.

Run:

The 5 K run will be out and back to the finish line.

The run is mostly flat, but will be HOT, so hydrate at the aid station, where there will be water and sports drink.

The finish line area will be next to the transition area, where there will be food and refreshments.
