Regional Tri-Physathlon Fitness Contest with the Music City Triathlon : |
Triathlon : Swim ¼ Mile, Bike 10 Miles, Run 3.1 Mile |
The PhysathlonTM event combines aerobic/cardiovascular activity (45%) with strength (45%) and freestyle events (10%). The aerobic/cardiovascular activity includes a swim (10%), bike (15%), and run/walk (20%). The strength division includes a minimum of 4-10 repetitions, for 12 squat or dead-lift (bent-knee), bench press, shoulder press, shoulder pull down, and hamstring curl and arm curl, and is done on July 21. (For the triathlon there may be a total time score-which is 45%). The cardiovascular activities are met through participation in the ACME Music City Triathlon, which occurs on July 22. There are separate entry fees for the Tri-Physathlon and the Music City Triathlon. Proceeds from the Tri-Physathlon will be donated to the Red Cross for their disaster relief program. The freestyle activity includes 3 minute push-ups, 5 minute sit-ups, and 2 minute chin-ups (10%). You may do one cardiovascular event and /or more of the strength/freestyle activities. A scoring sheet will be available for the PhysathlonTM. At least a total of 5 strength and 1 cardiovascular events will be included for completion of the event. A 1000 point scoring system exists and you must score 100 in each exercise category, except cardiovascular activities, for the PhysathlonTM. There are male and female divisions, certificates, and medals for all participants and awards in 10 year age groups, and weight classes. T-shirts and awards are given for physathlonTM participants. The Tri-PhysathlonTM weight activity will also have separate awards in lift division. You must score at least 50 points in this division.

The Regional Tri-PhysathlonTM Event will be held in conjunction with the Music City Triathlon. Enjoy refreshments and an orientation of all exercises. An optional open house for physathletes will begin at 9:00 AM at Fitness Plus, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee off of Two Mile/Rivergate Parkway. The Weight/Exercise Events will be from 10:00 AM-2:30 PM on July 21. The Music City Triathlon portion of the Tri-Physathlon takes place on July 22. You will be required to sign additional waiver at the Fitness Plus Gym in addition to that for the Triathlon and for imathlete.com, unless you register in person at the Triathlon. Point systems will be discussed at orientation.
All triathletes and physathletes must pick up race packs Saturday afternoon beginning at 3:00 PM for the Music City Triathlon. Physathletes should be registered for the Music City Triathlon in conjunction with this event. The entry fee for the race is separate from the PhysathlonTM. Money will be donated to the Red Cross for their work.
