TRI AROOSTOOK is a USAT sanctioned sprint distance triathlon for ages 15 and up.  Compete as an individual for the full sprint triathlon (swim, bike, and run) or as a team member on a relay of two or three.  TRI AROOSTOOK will be capped at 150 athletes.

SPRINT TRIATHLON

TRI AROOSTOOK will be held on the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus on Saturday, June 30th, 2012.  Athletes will self seed when registering based on their estimated time for the 525 yard swim.  Swim waves of 12 athletes in 6 lanes will begin in the Gentile Indoor Pool.  A scenic 10.25 mile bike takes athletes south towards Aroostook State Park, then looping back into Presque Isle.  A 3.1 mile off road run through the fields and trails adjacent to UMPI will bring athletes to a roaring finish of TRI AROOSTOOK.

RELAY

Cant swim?  Not a biker?  Forget running?  Consider being a member of a relay team for TRI AROOSTOOK!   A relay team consists of three members (swimmer, biker, and runner) who each complete one segment of the full Sprint Triathlon.  Relay teams can also have two members where one member completes two segments of the race.

CHARITY

Pink Aroostook is a breast health program in Northern Maine, designed for support, advocacy, education and awareness of breast health issues.  Thanks to Cary Medical Center and Komen Maine, Pink Aroostook is able to provide a limited number of no cost mammograms and transportation to breast cancer treatment for individuals in financial need.  Funding received from Komen Maine is also being used to identify barriers that exist for women in accessing the healthcare system, particularly breast health services.  Additionally, the County Sisters is a network of women that was formed as a way to connect and help women in Aroostook County that have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.  The network connects women new to breast cancer to a group of women who have survived and had similar diagnosis or treatment.  With your help, TRI AROOSTOOKs success will allow all registration proceeds to be donated directly to Pink Aroostook.
