2012 CP Adventure Race:
The CP Adventure Race combines triathlon elements, adventure sports and service projects. The race covers over 3 miles of running, 2 miles of paddling and 10 miles of road cycling. Innovative physical challenges and service initiatives will be integrated into checkpoints. Based in Wilmore, Kentucky, with views of scenic farms, Kentucky River palisades and a historic small town.
Proceeds and donations go toward the good works of Confrontation Point Ministries, serving communities in Appalachia through mission & adventure trips. Confrontation Point guides teams in home repair; volunteer work with the marginalized and environmental conservation. The CP Adventure Race is designed like our organizational mission, combining service with adventure!
Racers may enter as partner teams or soloists. Canoes provided for first 30 teams/soloists registered, kayaks or personal canoes welcome, flat-water paddling only. Cycling will be on paved road. Running will cover pavement, gravel, dirt trail and steep hills.
While race organizers will do all possible to create a quality race, it is not a professional event or USARA qualifier. The goal is to have a fun competition and raise funds to serve people in need. Prizes awarded to top finishers in each category. Post-race snacks and lunch will be served.
Course Information:
1) Running, 709 East Main Street, Wilmore to Shanty Hill Road, down gravel road to KY River.
2) Paddle (Canoe/Kayak) approximately 2 miles, downriver to bridge & back.
3) Run Trail up 500 elevation.
4) Checkpoint obstacle challenge
5) Bike 5 miles to High Bridge Park on High Bridge Road.
6) Checkpoint construction challenge.
7) Bike 5 miles back to 709 East Main Street
8) Checkpoint Tree Planting challenge.
9) Checkpoint Disc Golf Throw challenge.
10) Finish.
Directions:
Race location start point is 709 East Main Street, Wilmore, KY.
Bikes and any personal boats will be transported from this point to the appropriate checkpoint.
Other Info:
- Racers may enter as partner teams or soloists.
- Each partner will do the entire race and need to be within sight of their partner.
- There will be 5 categories for prizes: male partners, female partners, coed partners, male soloist, female soloist.
