The Galena Triathlon & Duathlon is a challenging point-to-point sprint distance race held in picturesque Jo Daviess County. This popular event has been named one of the "top 10" sprint triathlons in the U.S. by USA Triathlon (USAT).
Course Information:
The second leg of the race is a breathtakingly beautiful 16.8-mile bike ride on the hilly and winding country roads of Jo Daviess County. The second transition area is located in the heart of Galena Territory at Eagle Resort & Spa Special Event field.
The final leg is a 4.3-mile run, which winds up and down the picturesque lanes and roadways. The finish line is located at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa's Special Event Field, the site of the post race party.

Site of registration, swim course and Duathlon run #1.
From Galena:
From the intersection of n. Main St. & Meeker St., turn right onto Stagecoach Trail.
Drive east for approximately 12 miles.
Turn right onto Pea Ridge Rd.
Pea Ridge Rd. will turn into W. Apple Canyon Rd.
Turn left onto S. Apple Canyon Rd.
Turn left onto Eisenhower Dr., nixon Beach is at the end of Eisenhower Dr.
From Chicago:
Take i-90 / 94 West to Rockford.
Take US Rt. 20 West from Rockford to the village of Woodbine.
in Woodbine, turn right onto Scout Camp Rd.
Turn left onto East Lake Rd., no. 3.
Turn left onto S. Apple Canyon Rd.
Turn right on Eisenhower Dr., Nixon Beach is at the end of Eisenhower Dr.
Directions to Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa
Bike course and site of finish line. ROUTE WILL BE CLOSED DURING RACE.
From Nixon Beach, Apple Canyon Lake:
From Eisenhower Dr., turn right onto S. Apple Canyon Rd.
Turn right onto W. Apple Canyon Rd.
At the Y in the road stay to the left which will be Pea Ridge Rd.
Stay on Pea Ridge Rd. until it intersects with Stagecoach Trail.
Turn left onto Stagecoach Trail.
Turn left onto Elizabeth / Scales Mound Rd.
Turn right onto W. Rawlins Rd. Stay to the left onto n. Morley Rd.
Turn right on W. Wachter Rd. for 2.5 miles.
Turn left on Territory Dr.
Turn right on Eagle Ridge Dr. to Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa. (Site of finish line.)
