The McDowell Trail Association is pleased to host its 3rd Annual MTA Triathlon at Lake James on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Paddy's Creek Section of Lake James State Park.
The race consists of a 750 meter swim, 22 mile road bike and 5K trail run.
The venue is breathtaking, with views of Lake James visible from almost everywhere on the course. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or new to the triathlon experience, this is a must-do event.
The race will be sanctioned by USA Triathlon and professionally managed by Blue Ridge Multi Sports.

The swim features a wave start and open water course on beautiful Lake James.
The ride is on-road course, consisting of approximately 4 miles on state park property and an 18 mile loop with views of the lake all along the way.
The run is mostly on dirt trail, with approximately ¼-½ mile on pavement.
All participants must finish the event in under 3 hours, 30 minutes. Race officials reserve the right to remove any participant from the course who it deems unlikely to finish the event within the stated time limit.

All USA Triathlon rules will apply, including drafting, outside assistance and age-up.
The minimum age to race the MTA Lake James Triathlon is 13 years old.
