Description:

Brief Description

The swim is an out-and-back course starting in the Marina (800 meters). The bike course consists of flat to rolling hills through the countryside of Bartholomew County (17.5 miles). The run course is flat and on roads within the Tipton Lakes Neighborhood (3.1 miles). New this year, the Olympic Course will consist of a 1500 meter swim, 25 mile bike, and 6.2 mile run.

Additional Information

Participants may compete in either the age division, relay team division or weight division (if applicable). The top three teams in each division will receive awards. Additionally,individual awards will be given to the top three male and female participants in each of the following age divisions: 14-17, 18-20, 21-24, 25-29, 30-34,35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64,65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84,and 85+.

**Starting in 2006, USAT rules states that a participant's age for awards be based on their age on December 31st of current year** NO ONE UNDER AGE 14 IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE.

The 17th Annual Columbus Challenge Sprint Triathlon will be timed by "Mattoon Multi- Sport" using the most advanced timing system - ChampionChip!***

Award presentation and post-race food will follow the event at the Tipton Lakes Marina.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-65 to Exit 68 (SR 46) Columbus. Take SR 46 west to Goeller Boulevard. Turn left (south), taking Goeller Boulevard to TIpton Lakes Boulevard. Turn left onto Tipton Lakes Boulevard. Follow Tipton Lakes Boulevard to The Tipton Lakes Marina.

CHECK-IN & RACE PACKET PICK UP EARLY REGISTRATION*** FRIDAY AUGUST 3rd from 6pm-8pm at The Tipton Lakes Marina. Pick up your Race Package, eat a free meal, check out the race venue, tune up your bikes for free, meet other athletes and most importantly help race management with Saturday morning registration frenzy!

RACE DAY REGISTRATION: From 6:30 am to 7:30 am. Registration will close at 7:30 am. NO EXCEPTIONS. ID required at registration.

PARKING: Plan to arrive early and be watchful and mindful of instructional parking signs.

VOLUNTEERS: We always need volunteers! If you know of anyone wishing to volunteer, please let us know -- by sending us their name and number or e-mail address. Volunteers will receive a free volunteer t-shirt, free post-race food and, of course, our sincerest gratitude.

MANDATORY PRE-RACE MEETING: A mandatory pre-race meeting will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, August 4. RACE START is at 8:30 a.m. This is a USAT Sanctioned event. Approved helmets must be worn during the bicycling portion of the race.

EARLY BIRD ENTRY FEES: Entries postmarked after July 30 must add $10 to entry fees.

***Important Notice!** Race-Day Registration will be subject to availability only. Athletes registering on race date might not receive Goodie Bag.

Race registrations are capped at 400. MISCELLANEOUS: Participants will receive a race t-shirt, swim cap, and post-race food. Race results will be available at www.foundationforyouth.com. Entries will be limited to 400 total participants. Entry fees are non-refundable.

The Columbus Challenge Sprint Triathlon is a fundraiser for Foundation For Youth. FFY oversees youth programming for the following: Boys & Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Columbus Youth Camp, Girls on the Run and Biddy Basketball. Thank you for Taking The Challenge for Kids' Sake!
