According to past participants, the Hawk Island Triathlon is “the perfect race for beginners.” It’s also a great warm-up for the 2009 triathlon season.
Beginners love the individual time-trial starts (less intimidating).
Group starts are offered for more competitive entrants.

Hawk Island County Park features a sandy beach and swimming area, spray park, playground, sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, fishing docks, boardwalks, paddle and rowboat rental, picnic grounds and shelters, and a beach house/snack bar.

Swim 400 meters:
Counterclockwise from north beach to south beach.
Wetsuits allowed, encouraged for beginners.
- - - Bike 16 kilometers:
Single circuit course on smooth, paved roads through beautiful South Lansing and Michigan State University farms.
- - - Run 5 kilometers:
Paved path around Hawk Island Lake and scenic Scott Woods.

Come on Saturday, May 30th and be a part of the Capital City’s annual “Be a Tourist” event.
Visitors can visit over 35 local attractions, including historical museums, art galleries, nature centers, botanical gardens, a water park, and the Michigan State Capitol Building, all for only $1!
