Spring Fall Classic Sprint Triathlon - August Race : |
Triathlon : Swim ½ Mile, Bike 24 Miles, Run 3.1 Miles |
SWIM COURSE: The 1/2 mile open water swim has a beach entrance, and takes place in beautiful Lake Tawakoni. The course runs counter-clockwise and takes swimmers around a small peninsula. Swimmers exit the water via a boat ramp, which takes them directly into the transition area - very little running is involved.
BIKE COURSE: This 24 mile out and back course is FLAT and definitely FAST with very few intersections. The mileage is just shy of an Olympic distance, giving racers a slightly larger race than your ordinary Sprint distance. If you're packing up your gear and coming out to race, we want to make it worth your while!
RUN COURSE: The 3.1 mile run takes you out of the transition area and down a short path to a trailhead. This very short trail run weaves through trees about 1/4 mile, before it takes you out of the park. Once you hit the road, the course becomes an out and back with a couple of rolling hills to challenge your tired legs. Back in the park, it is a fast and straight path to the finish line.
TRANSITION AREA: The transition area is conveniently close to the swim exit. As soon as racers leave the water, they are only steps from the timing unit and then head directly into the transition area. It is a fairly large area, so there will be plenty of room to rack your bike and find your way in and out
