I was looking very forward to this race because there aren't generally too many in the winter. Initially, I was very impressed with the race. It seemed well organized and most of the volunteers knew what they were doing and could help you out with any questions you had. Even the morning of the race, things seemed to be running smoothly and I was excited for a fun race. Swim segment went well; people seeded themselves pretty good and there wasn't much congestion. Wahoo! The bike part of the race is when things started going down hill. Apparently they were unaware that the spin bikes were too close to each other and were not giving accurate readings. Oh well, a 25 minute bike (for everyone) wouldn't be bad. Then came the run. This is when things became VERY unorganized. The timing chip mat was sketchy when entering the run and made for possible an inaccurate reading/time. The run was around a lap 21.5 times-no big deal. They had people calculating how many laps you were running and unfortunately they didn't catch every athlete everytime they ran even though they were assigned certain people to watch. When speaking with triathletes at the finish, numerous people had to run extra or less laps then what they had been told. The people who were recording the laps were not accurate and it wasn't off by just one lap, five in my case. I understand that this was the first race the JL Sorenson Rec Center has put on, but I believe if they want to have a good outcome next year, a lot of changes will need to be made. Personally, not so sure that I'll be doing this race again.

Sorry I have to give this one 5 Stars. You have to remeber this is their first year doing this race. A few glitches we're to be expected. I'm 100% positive they'll have things worked out by next year. I've done a few indoor Tri's and this one has been the best yet. What other race gives you AWSOME finishing medals for a sprint indoor tri. The shirts were great, volunteers were Super friendly. My kids had a blast doing the kids Tri!!!!! This is one I'll be putting on my race calander every year. Awsome Job JL Rec Center I had a Fabulous time.

This was my first triathlon and I had a great time. I learned a lot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The race was well organized. It was their first tri event and I'm sure they have learned a lot too. The swim/bike transition was in the pool area and you had to walk on the wet cement in bike shoes. I slipped and fell, but was o.k., my adrenaline was pumping. The bikes were too close together which caused the sensors to read other bikes. They tried to fix it by making everyone bike for 25 minutes. This must have caused a back up at the bikes because they let me off at 23:30. I didn't keep track of my running laps but a couple times I had to correct the people counting because they would make errors from one lap to the next.
Suggestions: They need to have rubber mats leading all the way from the transition area to the bikes, or I'll wait until I get to the bikes before I put my shoes on. Bikes need to be farther apart. They need more people counting laps.
The facility is beautiful! I really enjoyed myself and will definitely participate again next year.
