The Granite Bay Duathlon is a run-bike-run format race - 4 mile run, 13 mile bike, 4 mile run, with the bike course all on closed roads, and both runs on scenic trails. You can also race the shorter Super Sprint Duathlon with its 2 mile run - 6.5 mile bike - 2 mile run, either instead of with the Granite Bay Duathlon!

Course Descriptions: Run - Both the Super Sprint 2-mile and the Granite Bay Duathlon 4-mile run course leave the transition area and run on single-track trails, wide trails and pavement. The courses are marked with caution tape and arrows signaling straight-ahead, left or right turn. Headphones are not allowed on the run course. Aid stations on the run course for both races will have cold water, Clif Shot Energy Gels, and Clif Electrolyte Beverage. Both the first and the second run courses are the same for both races. Headphones are not allowed on the run course.
Bike - The Granite Bay Duathlon Bike Course is a 13-mile two-loop course entirely within the park at Folsom Lake. After completing the first lap you will u-turn and complete the second lap on the bike course. After completing the second lap you will make the left turn and return to the Transition Area. This TWO-LAP course is located entirely within the park on roads closed to traffic. The bike course is windy and has several sharp small hills and tight turns. It is STRONGLY recommended that you ride the course ahead of time. Caution is advised on several of the turns as they wind through the hills and oak trees that surround Folsom Lake. Course maps will be available on race morning at Registration. ALL athletes doing the Granite Bay Duathlon MUST complete both loops on the bike course. The Super Sprint Bike Course is a 6.5-mile one-loop course entirely within the park at Folsom Lake. The bike course is windy and has several sharp small hills and tight turns. It is STRONGLY recommended that you ride the course ahead of time. Caution is advised on several of the turns as they wind through the hills and oak trees that surround Folsom Lake. The course is closed to cars, but caution should be exercised as it has many sharp turns on its winding hilly route. After completing the lap, you will return to Transition Area and begin the second two-mile run.
Aid Stations: Aid stations will be located in the transition area and on the run course, serving cold water, CLIF Gel Shots, and Electrolyte beverage.

Granite Beach, Folsom Lake
From the Bay Area take Interstate 80 east to Douglas Blvd.
From Reno take Interstate 80 west to Douglas Blvd.
Granite Bay State Park on Folsom lake is located at the end of Douglas Blvd, 5-6 miles East of I-80. Turn right at the third stop sign after entering the park for the Granite Beach parking lot. There is a $10 vehicle charge for day-use or $125 for an annual pass

Competitor Goodies: Included for each competitor is a Granite Bay Duathlon race tee-shirt, athlete goody bag with CLIF Bar and Emerald Nuts product samples.
Divisions/Awards: First place Overall Male and Female in the Granite Bay Duathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each ten-year age group for the Granite Bay Duathlon. Relay Team awards will be for first place teams in each Division of Male, Female and Coed.

Equipment: Athletes will NOT be allowed to proceed on the bike course without a helmet. The helmet must be securely fastened the entire time you are on your bike. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Crossing the yellow lines on the bike course will result in disqualification. Drafting is not allowed on the bike course and will be penalized with a two-minute penalty. Riding your bike will be allowed in the transition area. Numbers must be placed on your bike and worn on the run. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc.. are not allowed.
