2012 Buffalo Springs Lake Ironman 70.3:
The Buffalo Springs Lake Half Ironman Triathlon is a Ironman 70.3 course which serves as an Ironman Qualifier and a 70.3 Qualifier. It consists of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run. As an Ironman Qualifier event it requires the longer distance.

Swim 1.2 Miles:
open water lake swim.
Wave starts (approximately 150 per wave.
Rectangular counter clockwise course.
Enter at beach area and exit on cement boat dock area, within 20 yards of the transition area.
Swim cutoff time is 75 minutes.
Bike 56 Miles:
Modified out and back bike course.
Out of town farm to market roads, limited traffic.
Flat with 8 challenging hills, ranging from 8-13% grade and a quarter of a mile to 1.2 miles in length.
These are good asphalt roads with some shoulders.
Approved helmets are required.
No drafting allowed.
Run 13.1 Miles:
Asphalt, flat with 3 challenging hills, ranging from 10-14% grade.
The hills are approximately 300 yards to 880 yards in length.
Partially shaded, tough, scenic course.
No non-participant pacing allowed.
Water stations approximately every 1 mile on the run.
Course cut-off time is 8 hours 30 minutes from the last wave start.
