  • Now in its 2nd year, the Capitol View Triathlon offers a convenient location at Governor Nelson State Park, and many other features triathletes will appreciate in this world-class event!
  • With beautiful views of the Capitol Building, triathletes will be served the best the Madison area has to offer with a swim in Lake Mendota, a bike course full of rolling hills and an off-road cushioned trail run.

    COURSE INFORMATION:

  • Swim: The swim will be a wave start on a single loop, counter-clockwise course starting and finishing on the beach. The first and last 200 yards of the course will be along a spectator -friendly sea wall.
  • The swim course will offer fantastic views of the Wisconsin State Capitol building and the University of Wisconsin campus skyline.

  • Bike: The lollipop-shaped Olympic distance bike course will include a 10-mile "stem" consisting of rolling hills with several flat-and-fast sections followed by a 5 mile hilly loop and then returning to transition via the same 10-mile stem.
  • The Sprint course is an out-and-back route and is the same as the first and last 6 miles of the Olympic course, with a turnaround in a large cul-de-sac.
  • The course will be fully patrolled by draft marshals and busy intersections will be manned by uniformed officers.

  • Run: The run course is located entirely within the state park and will be run on wide, groomed trails.
  • The running surface is a mixture of dirt, grass, and wood chips. The course runs though all the ecosystems of the park before charging to the finish line in a large grass field that will also serve as the epicenter for the post-race festivities.

  • Governor Nelson State Park is located on the north shore of Lake Mendota, directly across the lake from downtown Madison.
