Loon Lake Triathlon :
Triathlon : Swim ¼ Mile, Bike 12 Miles, Run 3.1 Miles

2011 Loon Lake Triathlon:

Seventh annual Loon Lake Triathlon.

Sprint Triathlon.

Course Information:

SWIM:

The swim portion of the race is at Loon Lake.

Swimmers will enter the water at the Public Access. All swimmers must start out of the water.

Each participant must swim around the marked buoys then exit the water and head towards the marked transition point.

From here, proceed on to the next portion of the race.

All swimmers are required to wear a swim cap which will be provided for you in your registration packet.

BIKE:

The bike portion of the race begins from the parking lot at Loon Lake.

All bikers must mount and dismount their bike at the designated starting point.

Leave the parking lot and begin biking on the public access road.

At the end of the road take a right onto Co Rd. 9. Proceed on Co. Rd. 9 until you hit a stop sign. Take a left onto Main Street (this area will be marked and blocked for you).

Proceed on Main Street until you come to another stop sign. Take a left onto Co. Rd. 20 (this area will be marked and blocked for you).

Proceed on Co. Rd. 20 until your reach 174th St. This is the turn around point and it will be marked by a race official.

Follow the same route back to Loon Lake.

PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION on the bike route as it is taking place on a mildly busy county road.

Bikers need to stay on the correct side of the road or they will be disqualified.

RUN:

The run portion of the race begins from the parking lot at Loon Lake.

Leave the parking lot and run down the public access road.

At the end of the road, take a left onto Co. Rd. 9. Proceed on Co. Rd. 9 until 528 Lane. This is the turn around point and it will be marked by a race official.

From here, follow the same route back to the Loon Lake and cross the marked Finish Line.

Directions:

LOCATION: Loon Lake Public Access.

The race will take place at the Loon Lake Public Access located just east of Lake Crystal off of county road 9.

Lake Crystal is located about 10 miles south west of Mankato on Highway 60.

From Mankato MN

Take South Highway 169 to County Road 9.

Turn right onto County Road 9. The public access road to Loon Lake will be approximately 2 miles from Highway 169.

Look for brown signs indicating a Public Access.

Other Info:

Competitors are required to supply their own race equipment. BIKE HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. Limited parking and toilet facilities so come early and be prepared to race.

CHIP TIMING PROVIDED BY RACE PLACE CHIP TIMING.

Adhere your racing label securely to the front of your running clothes. We will write your number on your upper right arm and right leg with permanent marker.

Officials will check off your number as you pass certain points along the race. Please let a race official know if for some reason you will not be finishing the race.

While biking, stay to the right and be aware of traffic. Officials along the route will direct you. Ambulance service will be available. NO DRAFTING ALLOWED. Round the turn-back in counter-clockwise direction.

While running, stay to the left and be aware of traffic. Officials along the route will direct you. Ambulance service will be available.

Water tables will be located within the transition area, at the bike
turn-around, and the run turn-around.

Depending on the number of participants, race officials have the authority to establish waves. Please be aware of your designated wave and let experienced racers to the front.

Refreshments for racers will be available for all participants after the finish..

Results will be mailed to any participant who leaves a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Results will also be printed in the Lake Crystal Tribune, found at our chip timers website
