2011 Contoocook Carry:

The Contoocook Carry Triathlon was first held in 2002, as a gift of the Congoran family, to help build the towns Spirit Skateboard Park.

This year, our mission is to give 100% of all proceeds directly to Fuel Assistance (through Human Services) for those who might need a little extra help with the coming winter.

Our spirit has always come from outstanding athletes, families, teens trying to outdo their parents or each other, and adventurous people, just testing their mettle.

This event happens each year only because of the amazing volunteers from our town

Course Information:

The course begins and ends at Hopkinton High School.

The Carry begins from Hopkinton High School with a 2 mile run to the bank of the Contoocook River and a beautiful view of Putney Hill.

After finishing the two mile run, participants arrive at the Contoocook River to begin the 5 mile paddle to the bike ride starting point.

About 1/2 way down the river course, paddlers must take their boats out (there are volunteers to assist) and portage their boat about 200 meters around a dam (there are also volunteers who can help with this portage).

The boats are taken out at the Tyler Bridge to begin the bike course.

The 14 mile bike traverses gently rolling countryside over two lane roads, including a covered wooden bridge crossing, and returns through Contoocook Village to Hopkinton High School.

Directions:

From points North and South of Hopkinton, take I-89 to exit# 6. Go northbound into Contoocook Village and the stop sign at the fountain.

Turn left after the fountain and go across the Contoocook River Bridge (a covered railroad bridge will be on your right).

Bear right after the bridge onto Park Ave. You'll see the Hopkinton High School on your left in approximately 34 of a mile.
