- Girls just want to have fun! Join us for the return of the Buff Betty on Saturday September 9th. The only all-women’s adventure race in the country! Soloists, two-, three- or four-person teams will have 6 hours to complete the course and retrieve as many checkpoints as they can, travelling together as a team Not interested in 6 hours outside? Teams can also choose to do the course in a shorter time frame: 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours it’s up to you! Teams will trek/run, mountain bike (hybrid and cross bikes will be allowed) and paddle on the beautiful South Fork of the Shenandoah River. All paddling equipment/gear is provided. This race has often been described as an easter egg hunt for adults in the woods! Lot’s of laughs, a great workout, quality time with your friends, a new adventure…It might just change your life!
One of our goals at Adventure Addicts Racing is to introduce new people to the sport and we believe the Buff Betty is a great introduction for adventurous female athletes looking for an alternative to triathlons and your typical off-road events. Call your friends, get your team together, and don’t miss out on one of the most exciting races of the year! Moms…how about racing with your daughter! (minimum age is 12).
Course Information:
Disciplines:
- Mountain biking (6-10 miles)
- Trekking (4-6 miles)
- Paddling (boats, PFDs, and paddles provided) (2-4 miles)
- Navigation…completely doable for beginners and fun for more experienced navigators. If you can read a park trail map, then you can do this race!
