Triathlon : Swim 400 Yards, Bike 9 Miles, Run 3.1 Miles |
This triathlon series was created to help bring the sport of triathlon to Sonoma County. These are short distance triathlons open to all levels of ability. They are an excellent first triathlon and help you succeed in a non-competitive atmosphere. All are welcome to participate. Excellent for novices, great competition for the seasoned triathlete. This event is non-competitive and time is not recorded. It is designed for you to complete and enjoy. The mini sprint is a 400y swim in a heated pool, a 9 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run. The race starts at Finley Aquatic Center and travels along the Santa Rosa Creek Trail for the bike and run course. Included in each athlete’s registration fee is custom Team DJFE medal, a swim cap, and an athlete goody bag.

Event details and schedule
Saturday, October 7th
Packet pickup will from 12-4pm at Fleet Feet, 111 Third Street, Santa Rosa, CA
Sunday, October 8th
Athletes should arrive by 8am for check in and transition set-up
Be prepared for temperatures for 70-90+ degrees.
Proper attire is required*
- a bathing suit, a tri suit and a swim cap for the swim
- a bike helmet and closed toed-shoes or cycling shoes on the bike
- running shoes and appropriate running clothing or tri kit.
* This is a family friendly event and anyone who cannot follow these basic rules will not be allowed to participate.
Parking will be available at Finley Community Center
Athletes should enter the pool area at 8:45 for pre-race instructions
Race starts promptly at 9am in the Finley Pool
Race order: Adult individuals, Adult relay teams, Youth Individuals and Youth relay.
The first racer is expected to finish between 10:15-10:30
Swim – The race will begin with a 400-meter swim, which will be 16 lengths in the pool. A length is the distance from wall to wall in the pool.
Bike – Riders will mount their bikes and ride west on the Santa Rosa Creek Trail until they reach the turn around at Willowside Road and return to Finley. The distance is 9 miles. Helmets are required before you leave the transition area
Run – Once you rack your bike, runners will leave Finley and head EAST on the Santa Rosa Creek Trail. The turn around will be the Dutton Rd. trail break. Runners will run around the pole and return back to the Finish Line at Finley. The distance is 3.1 miles.
