The 11th Annual Twin Lakes Triathlon and 4th Annual Duathlon is set for August 5, 2017 (first Saturday in August as usual). Both events are sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT). This event supports the ongoing work of Twin Lakes Bible Camp.

The Twin Lakes Triathlon is considered a ‘sprint-distance’ triathlon. A sprint-distance triathlon is typically much shorter than traditional triathlons, often featuring a half-mile, open-water swim, a 15-20 mile bike ride, and a 3-4 mile run. The Twin Lakes Triathlon is a .47 mile swim, a 12.4 mile bike ride, and a 3.1 mile run – exactly half the Olympic distance. This is the only Half-Olympic Distance Sprint Triathlon being run – you can be part of history!

In addition to the Triathlon, a run-bike-run Duathlon is offered. The Twin Lakes Duathlon features a 1.6 mile run, beginning synchronously with the opening swim portion of the Triathlon. The Duathlon then follows the same course – 12.4 mile bike ride and 3.1 mile run – as the Triathlon.

We hope you will join us for this event!

Event details and schedule

Twin Lakes Triathlon check-in begins at 6 a.m. at Twin Lakes State Park, near the transition area. Athletes must present a valid ID to receive race materials. After checking in, participants may enter the transition area to set up equipment. Participants must retrieve all equipment from the transition area following the race. Security personnel will monitor the transition area from 6 a.m. until all equipment has been claimed. Only numbered athletes will be allowed to enter the transition area.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 7:15 a.m. at Twin Lakes State Park, with the Twin Lakes Triathlon and Duathlon beginning immediately following. The first wave of Triathlon swimmers and Duathlon runners will begin at 7:30 a.m.

Twin Lakes Bible Camp provides breakfast for all participants; others may eat with a donation.

An award ceremony will be held approximately 20 minutes after the final athlete crosses the finish line. Awards will be presented to the top three overall winners, both male and female, for the Triathlon and Duathlon, as well as for the top Team Triathlon (overall winners are disqualified from winning their respective age brackets). Medals will also be awarded to the winner of each age bracket.
