Triathlon : Canoe/Kayak 8 Miles, Bike 14 Miles, Run 3.1 Miles |
_ 2017 Timber City Adventure Triathlon:
The Timber City Adventure Race is a total of 25.1 mile Adventure Triathlon that includes Canoeing/Kayaking on the Maquoketa River, Biking and Running with a Recreation and Racing Division.
Registration opens at 7AM at The Hop in Canton located at 14966 4th Avenue, Monmouth, IA.
Race begins at 7:30am with the Recreation class first.
Canoe/Kayak:
• The Canoe/Kayak is an 8 mile course on the Maquoketa River beginning at Canton (The Hop).
• You will wind below towering limestone bluffs and through secluded valleys on a scenic route to Royertown Bridge access. This is the 2nd bridge you will come to. Exit on the left side, carry canoe past the clear zone, run up the drive to get your bike or tag your relay team member at the exchange.
Bike:
• The Bike route is a 14 mile course that starts with a challenging incline, one of the steepest in Jackson County, continues with several rolling hills, a steep decline with sharp right turn a the bottom and long flats to gather speed.
• Bikers must follow all traffic laws including a STOP at Highway 61 before crossing.
• HELMETS ARE REQUIRED.
• No drafting allowed.
Run:
• The Run is a 5K (3.1) mile mostly flat course starting at Hurstville Lime Kilns. head south on old Highway 61, follow the signs and course directors through the turns in Maquoketa.
