The Silver Lake Duathlon is held annually at the Beautiful Silver Lake Farms in Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Located 20 miles west of South Bend Indiana, the race provides a unique blend of cross country running and a smoothly paved bike course throughout the surrounding country roads. This event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and is chip timed.
All proceeds go to La Lumiere School. La Lumiere School is a premier faith based college preparatory boarding and day school located on a spectacular 190-acre campus in La Porte, Indiana. Academic excellence characterizes the curriculum and helps to prepare its students to attend some of the best colleges in the country including Stanford, Northwestern, Rhode Island School of Design, Notre Dame, Wake Forest, Middlebury, Georgetown, Cornell University, Colgate University, University of Michigan, and the University of Chicago. Silver Lake Duathlon holds an additional FUN RUN/WALK held on a 3 mile trail through the scenic woods and near the shores of silver lake. The option of chip timing is available.
Course Information:
Silver Lake Duathlon includes a 3 mile trail run through the woods around Silver Lake. This is followed by a 12 mile bike ride on the smoothly paved county roads around Rolling Prairie. The final leg is a repeat of the 3 mile trail run. The run is hilly and challenging. The bike leg is rolling as the name of the area implies.
Directions:
Take Highway 20 to Rolling Prairie and turn onto Michigan Avenue which is the main road through town. Head east on Michigan past the elementary school until it turns north and becomes N500E. Follow that road north until you pass Sacred Heart Apostolic School. The registration and transition area is at the top of the hill past the school and on a gravel road on east side of the road (right if you are going north).
