_ 2017 The Awakening 5k Walk - Changing America One Step at a Time:
The purpose of this walk is for all entities within the community to come together in the promotion of love, hope and change in our communities. This is the first of many events to be a catalyst for positive change in our cities by young people in The Awakening Project. The 5K will raise financial support and awareness for The Awakening Project Missions Trip where young people from various backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses will be engrossed in training, serving the community, and touching lives in 12 cities across the nation on July 31 – August 5, 2017. Community service projects they will be participating in include: feeding the homeless, streets clean-up and beautification, urban literacy, financial literacy, sponsoring orphanages, home repair projects and visiting nursing homes. We want them to know that they can become the solution to the problems that plague our country.
