The Brian R. Bill Memorial Challenge is a winter military-style obstacle course held each year at historic Norwich University, Northfield, VT. It is held in honor of the fallen hero and Navy SEAL Brian R. Bill, N.U. Class of 2001. Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Brian Robert Bill was killed on August 6, 2011, participating with his SEAL teammates in a daring nighttime mission in Wardak Province, Afghanistan, when the Chinook helicopter they were flying was shot down by enemy fire. The Golden Anchor Society in hosts the 10k obstacle race each year to remember the sacrifice of Brian R. Bill and others in the protection of our freedoms.
The Brian R. Bill Memorial Challenge will begin at 0800 in Plumley Armory on Sunday, April 2, 2017. This allows time for each race to be able to pick up his/her packet prior to the race. If you would like to have a custom packet pickup or race time, please email [email protected] for any questions. The race will be approximately 10k (6.2 miles) in length and will involve over 20 obstacle/stations. Expect the weather to be a bit chilly, however, running shoes and shorts are suggested for the race. Water and snacks will be available for purchase at the race. For any parking or directional information, please email [email protected]. A waiver will be signed at the location and you will be briefed on the mission of the race as you pick up your packet. After the last wave has been completed, the Golden Anchor Society invites you to attend the award ceremony at approximately 1400 (times may vary). Good Luck!
