2011 Triathlon For Hope:
The Greenswell Triathlon For Hope benefiting the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research is an all-female triathlon takes place at Alum Creek State Park.
Alum Creek’s large reservoir and gently rolling span of fields and woodlands provides a hub of recreational activity just minutes from Ohio's capital city.
Alum Creek State Park contains Ohio's largest inland beach and reservoir is the backdrop for this Greenswell event.
Part of your entry fee goes to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research – a 501©3 organization.
The Stefanie Spielman Fund supports breast cancer patients and research at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
Stephanie Spielman was breast cancer advocate and wife of former Ohio State football standout Chris Spielman. For more than 10 years, Spielman has lead a public fight against the disease and during that time, has raised more than $6.5 million for the Ohio State University’s Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
Stefanie and her husband, Chris, established Stefanie’s Champions to recognize one of the most critical factors in surviving cancer: loving, unwavering support.
Though Stefanie’s battle ended in 2009, Stefanie’s Champions continues her legacy by honoring those whose dedication and strength are powerful influences in the lives of cancer survivors. It was her hope that every survivor could name someone who stood by them, gave them courage and helped them through.
We encourage all participants of the Triathlon For Hope, both survivors and loved ones, to help champion and support the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
This event was formerly called Triathlon For The Cure.
