_ 2017 Basin Harbor Club Aqua Races:
Attention anyone who likes to swim, canoe, kayak, or paddle board! Meet us at the Basin Harbor Resort and Boat Club for this race across the lake and/or back. The distance from Basin Harbor to the shore in New York is only one mile. Swimmers will take the Basin Harbor party boat to the NY shore and swim back to Basin Harbor (one mile) while those in a canoe, kayak or on a paddle board will race over and back for a total of two miles. Swimmers are REQUIRED to have a swimmer’s buoy on them and they will be accompanied by a flotilla of boats to ensure their safety.
End the race there, or go on to complete a duathlon by adding a 5K run.
As a note, depending on the wind the morning of the race, the water could potentially be choppy. It could also be quite smooth.
Everyone registered by July 15 will receive a free commemorative race shirt.

Post Race Refreshments:
Light refreshments will be provided following the race courtesy of Bruegger’s Bagels and Shelburne Market. In addition, you and your guests may opt to take advantage of several dining opportunities at Basin Harbor:
- Pick up something to eat at the Harbor Store.
- Runners and their families can enjoy a 15% discount at The Red Mill Restaurant or the buffet lunch in the Ranger Room the day of the race. Runners must present their race bib to receive discount. Valid only for the day of race. Recommended to make a reservation in The Red Mill in advance. The Red Mill opens at 11:30 AM and serves all day. Ranger Room opens noon-2:30 PM.
Awards:
Top 3 men and top 3 women finishers in each division.
Prizes include:
- a Vermont Teddy Bear decked out in his commemorative race t-shirt
- a bottle of wine courtesy of Shelburne Vineyard
- a RaceVermont.com pint glass
A raffle of prizes donated by our sponsors will be held after the awards ceremony. You must be present to win.
